Brand Design Studio is fundamentally driven and shaped by inquiry and experimentation into the overall future of branding and the particular role that design will play in that future. We find ourselves living during a time necessarily characterized by political and cultural upheaval—a time in which design will play a lead role in negotiating and navigating change for humans.

From brand-led social change to brands collaborating with customers rather than designing uni-directional messaging and identity efforts, it’s clear that the practice and purpose of designing brand identities is changing and will continue its radical departure from making things attractive to making things work. New tools for brand designers have also emerged and will factor into brand design’s possibilities and purposes: from AI’s role in content and ethics questions to the visual language possibilities and opportunities of VR, the Brand Design Studio occupies an evolving space for experimentation and transformation of brand identities and how, when, and why they matter for humans.
